Okay, so my other journal entry is kind of lame. I'm probably going to delete it since I changed since then, and I don't really care anymore. The subject of it was a little trivial. You could say that I've got something of a tougher skin now. Making daily visits to a certain imageboard will do that to you. (JAPAN TIME, SAAAKKKKKUUUUURRRRRAAAAAIIIIIIIIIII, etc.)

First of all, I'll establish what I'm going to do with this journal. I don't know whether anyone will bother reading it, but I'll write it anyway.

I do plan on writing some fanfiction and submitting it here. I did start to write a DOA fanfic (It's going to be a Kasumi x Hitomi shoujo-ai/yuri fic eventually, in case anyone's interested.), but I only managed to get a couple chapters done before my fandom interests took me elsewhere, and my DOA muse only stuck around for a week or two. Until I actually start writing anything, this will probably serve as a blog of sorts (not for my personal life, since I don't really have a social life), since I don't have a Livejournal yet, and I already had this so I could see the mature content that the stupid filter won't let you see unless you have an account. I have a few ideas for other fanfics, mostly video game derived and involving hetero and generally unpopular couples, and an original story that I'm writing. I think I'll want to partner with an artist to help me by drawing for the project, since it would work best in manga format. (Although, since I'm American, I guess it would be more like a comic book.) Everything's still in the planning stages, and I don't even have an outline written up yet, so it would be quite a while before I can show anything to somebody, but it will be quite long, with a enough material to sustain a series of books if it was written as novels, but I want some accompanying artwork.

The real point of this entry, however, is a big shake-up in the Guilty Gear fandom, so it seemed appropriate to use a Guilty Gear exclamation. It seems that Sin, a new character from the Xbox 360 game Guilty Gear 2: Overture , is in fact the son of Ky and Dizzy.

All I can say is...

MY GUILTY GEAR OTP HAPPENED! HOLY CRAP!

I knew that the Sol x Ky stuff that fangirls kept going on about was obviously fan service for yaoi fangirls. Speaking of which, looking around the internet for news pertaining to this, I saw lots of fangirls acting really obnoxious, petty, and annoying. KY IS NOT BI, HE'S 100% STRAIGHT! His teacup collecting hobby doesn't mean he's gay, it means he's a genteel Frenchman. I even saw some hate towards Dizzy because of this, which, because of my great love for Dizzy, is the last straw. Just because I'm incredibly thrilled by the news overall doesn't mean I'm not irritated by this crap despite my thicker skin, and I absolutely adore Dizzy. I generally tolerate yaoi, but I hate when it gets shoved in my face, and I hate when girls get arrogant and obnoxious about it, and proceed to try and prove it's canon despite the lack of definitive evidence. As long as yaoi is kept away from me I don't make a fuss, but this just hit me right in the face as I read about the proof that this happened in Overture. And I'm not homophobic, because I don't hate gay people. In fact, I believe that not allowing gay marriage violates the Constitution on the basis of gender discrimination. However, seeing intimate and romantic affection between two guys almost always squicks me. I don't try or want to feel that way, it just happens.

So, all of the Sol x Ky fangirls who are making up stories about Dizzy's death, acting obnoxious/arrogant, and generally whining: Your baaaaawwwwwwwing is music to my ears, so cry some more. And if you write fanfics where you kill off Dizzy to hook up Sol and Ky, expect flames. And, you should never have expected any actual yaoi. Any mainstream or near-mainstream series of games or manga/anime that has ANY elements of yaoi are either pure fanservice and not to be taken seriously (Sol and Ky), grossly misinterpreted (Naruto and Sasuke, Sonic and Shadow, Kira and Athrun), one-way (Venom and Zato-1, Itsuki and Kyon), or is completely fandom craziness in the first place (Goku and Vegeta). Subtext is as far as it gets, and never becomes canon is a clearly visible way. Even in the unlikely chance it's canon, it's between more minor characters and not those who are the focus of the story. Some series may have canon yaoi which is important to the plot and clearly seen, but then it's not mainstream because it doesn't appeal to a wide enough market (IE, only yaoi fangirls and a small handful of guys). Guilty Gear is near-mainstream in America because it gets a decent amount of exposure and has a significant following, but is not something that is so popular that it's a household name. I can't speak for Japan's market, though, but the marketing demographics for genres are the same, with yaoi being either a shoujo plot, or a joke when in something more mainstream.

Back to the topic, I never expected this to happen, as I considered Ky x Jam to be more likely, but this is unbelievably awesome. I wish that GGX and GGXX would not have been decanonized, since I still believe that Ky x Dizzy could have happened in that continuity too, and I'm not sure how I like how he's treating Ky's reaction, considering that he's named his son Sin. But if things work out ok for my OTP (In other words, Ky gets all the same character development that GGX and GGXX provided and that Dizzy is the same as she was, and that they both survive and reunite.), I'm more than willing to accept it. Therefore, I tentatively declare Daisuke Ishiwatari winner of ALL the internets.

By the way, I'll probably be wathing my frontpage more closely now for a possible responses. If you're a Sol x Ky fangirl spoiling for a fight, be prepared. The thicker skin I developed on said imageboard is pretty tough, and I'll dish out better than I got. Anyone else is more than welcome to comment. And yes, I used several memes. It's partially a clue, and partially relevant.
